Light yield improvement in lead tungstate

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2005
Abstract A new approach to the possibilities of increase in the light yield (LY) of scintillations in lead tungstate (PWO) is discussed. The abrupt LY decrease above 200 K is connected with the start of rotations of WO 4 tetrahedra which disturbs electrostatic separation between non-equilibrium electrons and holes, thus accelerating their non ...

Loss of quantum yield in extremely low light

Planta, 2004
It has generally been assumed that the photosynthetic quantum yield of all C3 plants is essentially the same for all unstressed leaves at the same temperature and CO2 and O2 concentrations. However, some recent work by H.C. Timm et al. (2002, Trees 16:47-62) has shown that quantum yield can be reduced for some time after leaves have been exposed to ...

Surface-Enhanced Light Olefin Yields during Steam Cracking

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2000
Various papers have shown enhanced olefin yields during steam cracking when a catalytic surface is introduced. Our studies reveal that increased light olefin yields during catalytic steam cracking are mainly due to a surface volume effect and not to a traditional catalytic effect. Augmentation of yields is also observed if inert material is introduced.

Light, photosynthesis and yield in blueberries.

2018
Abstract In this chapter, a global vision of the physiology (functioning) of a blueberry plant is described with regard to the generation and distribution of carbohydrates. The factors that are involved in dry matter production and its partitioning among the various plant organs are discussed, as well as the effect of several environmental ...

Improved light yield of lead tungstate scintillators

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2000
Abstract The application at medium and low energies of lead tungstate scintillators, so far optimized for the ECAL calorimeter of CMS for the future LHC, is strongly limited by their poor light yield. Suitable dopants like molybdenum and terbium can help to overcome this problem.

Measuring the absolute light yield of scintillators

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2005
Abstract The absolute light yield of four different scintillation materials measured with two photomultiplier tubes and two avalanche photodiodes is presented. Commonly, the photoelectron yields and electron–hole pair yields are corrected for the quantum efficiency of the detector, as specified by the manufacturer, to obtain the absolute photon yield.

Light Yield and Light Collection Uniformity

2018
Given the large size of the CsI[Na] detector, a crucial calibration was to probe the light collection uniformity along the crystal. A 241Am source was placed on the outside of the copper can at nine equally spaced positions along the length of the CsI[Na] detector to measure the light collection uniformity in the CsI[Na] crystal.

Temperature dependence of BaF2 scintillation light yield

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1985
Abstract Measurements of the temperature dependence of the scintillation intensity of BaF 2 indicate that the intensity of the 315 nm component increases with decreasing temperature, while the 220 nm component is not affected.

Intrinsic light yield and light loss coefficient of Bi4Ge3O12 single crystals

Optical Materials, 2014
Abstract In this paper we present the scintillation properties of polished Bi4Ge3O12 (BGO) crystals grown by the Bridgman method. The light yield (LY) and energy resolution were measured using XP5200B photomultiplier. At 662 keV γ-rays, high LY of 9680 photons/MeV and good energy resolution of 8.6% were obtained for a 5 × 5 × 1 mm3 BGO sample.

Light, photosynthesis, quality and yield in blueberries.

2012
AbstractThis chapter describes the physiology (functioning) of a blueberry (Vaccinium sp.) plant with regard to the generation and distribution of carbohydrates. Factors that are involved in dry matter production and partitioning among the various plant organs, and the effect of several environmental variables and management practices on dry matter ...
