Lightning Mapping: Techniques, Challenges, and Opportunities [PDF]
Despite the significant progress made in studying the lightning phenomenon, precise location and mapping of its occurrence remain a challenge. Lightning mapping can be determined by studying the electromagnetic radiation accompanying the lightning discharges. It can contribute substantially to efforts made to protect lives and valuable assets.

Abstract Intergenerational connectedness broadly encompasses relations among humans, lands, and all living and spiritual beings, and functions as an important part of Indigenous well‐being. Many public health campaigns and interventions aim to promote connectedness to support holistic wellness and reduce health inequities. Currently, however, there are

Insulator fault feature extraction system of substation equipment based on machine vision
Abstract The artificial intelligence technology and intelligent automation are more and more widely used, the insulators play a supporting and insulating role in the operation of the grid. The use of machine vision inspection technology to detect insulator faults has become an inevitable trend of the times.

A kinase inhibitor prodrug monomer is designed with a polymerizable imidazole moiety, enabling its copolymerization with imidazole into particles containing up to 90 wt% prodrug. These particles also exhibit activity for photoacoustic imaging. Upon exposure to reactive oxygen species, the promoiety undergoes scission, releasing the native kinase ...

Abstract 3D scanning is rapidly becoming a key maintenance tool. Aerospace was a pioneer in adopting 3D scanning technology because aircraft manufacture and maintenance require precision. Monitoring deterioration, removing components for maintenance, and verifying covert operations are not practical or helpful without technology.

A Flexible Connector for Soft Modular Robots Based on Micropatterned Intersurface Jamming [PDF]
Soft modular robots enable more flexibility and safer interaction with the changing environment than traditional robots. However, it has remained challenging to create deformable connectors that can be integrated into soft machines. In this work, we propose a flexible connector for soft modular robots based on micropatterned intersurface jamming.

Highly Ductile Polypropylene Based Ternary Blends for High Voltage Insulation
Rapidly cooled ternary blends of isotactic polypropylene (PP), low‐density polyethylene (LDPE), and a polystyrene‐b‐(ethylene‐co‐butylene)‐b‐polystyrene (SEBS) elastomer are found to be highly ductile, with an elongation at break of more than 500%.

Aboriginal flood narratives and the thunder complex in Southeast Asia
Abstract The ancestors of the dingo were brought to mainland Australia around 4000 years ago by people who arrived by boat. The identity of these voyagers from the north, however, and the nature of their interactions with the Aboriginal population of Australia, are unknown.
