Improving Forecast of Severe Oceanic Mesoscale Convective Systems Using FY-4A Lightning Data Assimilation with WRF-FDDA

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
The Fengyun-4A (FY-4A) geostationary satellite carries the Lightning Mapping Imager that measures total lightning rate of convective systems from space at high spatial and temporal resolutions.

Characteristics of Lightning Activities over the Tibetan Plateau Based on Satellite Detection and Its Circulation Background Analysis

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2023
Based on the detection data obtained by the LMI (Lightning Mapping Imager)—China’s first satellite-based lightning observation payload—from 2018–2022, combined with the ERA5 (ECMWF Reanalysis v5) reanalysis data of the same period, the temporal and ...

Preliminary Research on a Comparison and Evaluation of FY-4A LMI and ADTD Data through a Moving Amplification Matching Algorithm

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
In this study, a new moving amplification matching algorithm was proposed, and then the temporal and spatial differences and correlation were analysed and evaluated by comparing the FengYun-4A Lightning Mapping Imager (FY-4A LMI) data and the China ...

Case Study of a Retrieval Method of 3D Proxy Reflectivity from FY-4A Lightning Data and Its Impact on the Assimilation and Forecasting for Severe Rainfall Storms

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
As the first Geostationary Satellite with the LMI (Lightning Mapping Imager) instrument aboard running over the eastern hemisphere, FY-4A (Feng-Yun-4A) can better indicate severe convection and compensate for the limitations of radar observation in ...

Application of 3D scanning technology in Royal Malaysian Air Force Industrial Revolution 4.0‐based aircraft maintenance

open access: yesIET Networks, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract 3D scanning is rapidly becoming a key maintenance tool. Aerospace was a pioneer in adopting 3D scanning technology because aircraft manufacture and maintenance require precision. Monitoring deterioration, removing components for maintenance, and verifying covert operations are not practical or helpful without technology.

Preliminary observations from the China Fengyun-4A Lightning Mapping Imager

open access: yes, 2023
The Fengyun-4A (FY-4A) Lightning Mapping Imager (LMI) is the first satellite-borne lightning imager developed in China, which can detect lightning over China and its neighboring regions. In this study, the LMI-observed temporal and spatial variations of lightning activity were compared with Lightning Imaging Sensor (LIS) and World Wide Lightning ...

Single-Molecule Imaging and Spectroscopy Enables Quantification of Location-Dependent Light-Matter Interactions on Nanoantennas. [PDF]

open access: yesSmall Sci
The fluorescence intensity as well as the spectral shape of the emission of single dye molecules strongly depend on the molecules’ exact position relative to plasmonic nanoparticles in hybrid systems. By point‐spread function modification analysis, the vertical binding location of single fluorophores on gold nanocones is obtained and correlated to both

MiR‐513a promotes human erythroid differentiation by modulating c‐Jun

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
During early human erythropoiesis, miR‐513a promoted erythroid differentiation in primary human CD34+ hematopoietic stem‐progenitor cells and human TF‐1 erythroleukemic cells by indirectly decreasing c‐Jun and phospho‐c‐Jun expression, which are associated with increased GATA1 expression.
