Intravenous immunoglobulin and febrile status epilepticus in children with Dravet syndrome: A retrospective multicentre study

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, Volume 68, Issue 6, Page 857-863, June 2026.
This multicenter retrospective study evaluated the use of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) in 14 children with Dravet syndrome as a preventive strategy against febrile status epilepticus. Over a 6‐month period, IVIG was associated with a significant reduction in hospitalizations for febrile status epilepticus.

The Integration of Fire Ecology and Freshwater Ecosystems in North America: Knowledge Gaps and Research Needs

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 6, June 2026.
Illustration of key knowledge gaps and pathways linking fire ecology and freshwater ecosystems. Climate change provides the overarching context, interacting with cumulative and cross‐scale effects to shape local freshwater conditions. Within this context, fire characteristics influence three primary pathways within freshwater ecosystems: species and ...

Canada's Forests Are Shifting From a Recovery‐Driven Carbon Sink to a Disturbance‐Driven Carbon Source

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 6, June 2026.
Canada's terrestrial ecosystems have historically functioned as a net carbon sink but are increasingly impacted by wildfire and timber harvest. Using wall‐to‐wall, physically coherent estimates of all major carbon pools and fluxes from the Canadian Land Surface Scheme Including Biogeochemical Cycles land surface model, we show that rising wildfire ...

Early Regional Microglial Remodelling in the Hippocampus of the AppNL‐G‐F Alzheimer's Model

open access: yesNeuropathology and Applied Neurobiology, Volume 52, Issue 3, June 2026.
Microglia undergo profound structural and functional changes during Alzheimer's disease, yet the earliest stages of morphological remodelling that occur prior to amyloid deposition remain poorly defined. Through high‐resolution 3D morphometry in the CA1 region of the hippocampus of AppNL‐G‐F mice, it was found that although microglial numbers and ...
