Abstract The development of smoke fine particulate matter (PM2.5) exposure surfaces for estimating air pollution trends and associated health effects has advanced considerably. Currently available smoke exposure products rely on various data sources and modeling techniques, as there is no gold standard method for modeling wildfire smoke PM2.5.

Lightning impact on a telecommunication network
Direct or indirect effects of lightning may engender important damage on telecommunication network. This thesis discusses how theoretical study of the coupling mechanism of lightning can be achieved especially when the strike point is located near or on a structure composed of a telecommunication pylon.

Abstract This study investigates the properties of power line harmonic radiation (PLHR), a type of electromagnetic emission generated by electric power networks. In particular, we analyze how the PLHR intensity varies in relation to geomagnetically induced currents (GICs), quasi‐DC currents driven by rapid changes in the geomagnetic field during space ...

Predicting Nitrogen Isotope Fractionation in Nitrate Deposition on Early Mars
Abstract Noachian and early Hesperian Mars were likely warm and wet, with an atmosphere abundant in molecular nitrogen. The recent discovery of nitrate deposits in the Yellowknife Bay mudstones at Gale Crater confirm the existence of nitrogen oxides (NOX) on Noachian Mars. The processes responsible for the production of these nitrates would fractionate

Spatiotemporal Machine Learning Approaches for Atmospheric Composition Emulation in NASA GISS ModelE
Abstract Earth System Models (ESMs) rely on parameterizations to represent sub‐grid scale processes that cannot be explicitly resolved at typical model resolutions. However, maintaining full coupling between these parameterizations and other model components creates substantial computational demands. This challenge is particularly acute for atmospheric

Self‐Supervised Radar Nowcasting of Typhoon Cloud Evolution
Abstract Self‐supervised learning (SSL) provides an innovative paradigm for pretraining without involving any new data or labels. However, its potential has not yet been evaluated in the field of typhoon raincloud nowcasting. Therefore, we explore two different SSL approaches: autoencoder (AE) and masked autoencoder (MAE).
