PRESENT: An Ultra-Lightweight Block Cipher [PDF]
With the establishment of the AES the need for new block ciphers has been greatly diminished; for almost all block cipher applications the AES is an excellent and preferred choice. However, despite recent implementation advances, the AES is not suitable for extremely constrained environments such as RFID tags and sensor networks.

Duel of the Titans: The Romulus and Remus Families of Lightweight AEAD Algorithms
In this article, we propose two new families of very lightweight and efficient authenticated encryption with associated data (AEAD) modes, Romulus and Remus, that provide security beyond the birthday bound with respect to the block-length n.

Cryptanalysis of the Lightweight Block Cipher BORON [PDF]
This paper provides security evaluations of a lightweight block cipher called BORON proposed by Bansod et al. There is no third-party cryptanalysis towards BORON. Designers only provided coarse and simple security analysis. To fill this gap, security bounds of BORON against differential and linear cryptanalysis are presented in this paper. By automatic

The Simeck Family of Lightweight Block Ciphers [PDF]
Two lightweight block cipher families, Simon and Speck, have been proposed by researchers from the NSA recently. In this paper, we introduce Simeck, a new family of lightweight block ciphers that combines the good design components from both Simon and Speck, in order to devise even more compact and efficient block ciphers.

Triathlon of lightweight block ciphers for the Internet of things [PDF]
In this paper, we introduce a framework for the benchmarking of lightweight block ciphers on a multitude of embedded platforms. Our framework is able to evaluate the execution time, RAM footprint, as well as binary code size, and allows one to define a custom “figure of merit” according to which all evaluated candidates can be ranked.
