Towards Low Energy Stream Ciphers

open access: yesIACR Transactions on Symmetric Cryptology, 2018
Energy optimization is an important design aspect of lightweight cryptography. Since low energy ciphers drain less battery, they are invaluable components of devices that operate on a tight energy budget such as handheld devices or RFID tags.

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

Practical Key-Recovery Attack on MANTIS5

open access: yesIACR Transactions on Symmetric Cryptology, 2017
MANTIS is a lightweight tweakable block cipher published at CRYPTO 2016. In addition to the full 14-round version, MANTIS7, the designers also propose an aggressive 10-round version, MANTIS5.

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

FPGA Implementation of Rectangle Lightweight Block Cipher

open access: yesInternational Journal for Research in Applied Science and Engineering Technology, 2022
Abstract: Block ciphers are basic building blocks for network security. In recent years, designing a lightweight block cipher is the main goal of VLSI design engineers. In this paper, we have designed and verified the functionality of the RECTANGLE block cipher which is one of the lightweight block cipher using Modelsim simulator and implemented using ...

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Implementing Lightweight Block Ciphers on x86 Architectures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Lightweight block ciphers are designed so as to fit into very constrained environments, but usually not really with software performance in mind. For classical lightweight applications where many constrained devices communicate with a server, it is also crucial that the cipher has good software performance on the server side. Recent work has shown that

Lightweight Structure of Random Key Generation for PRESENT Block Cipher [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Industrial Electronics, Control and Optimization
In this paper, we design a lightweight and modified random key generation for PRESENT block cipher which is applicable in the encryption of the digital signals. In the block ciphers, the master key is used directly in the encryption process for the data (
