Stabilized Cellulase in Chitosan–Polyvinyl Alcohol Biopolymer Beads for Sustainable Enzymatic Deinking of Recycled Paper

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2026.
A stable and reusable biocatalyst, cellulase@Cs/PVA/Ga, is engineered by immobilizing cellulase onto glutaraldehyde‐activated chitosan (Cs) and coating it with polyvinyl alcohol. This composite system enhances enzymatic stability and efficiency for the sustainable deinking of recycled newspaper, offering a green alternative to harsh chemical treatments.

Ligninolytic enzyme activities in mycelium of some wild and commercial mushrooms

open access: yes, 2008
Lignin is probably one of the most recalcitrant compounds synthesized by plants. This compound is degraded by few microorganisms. White-rot fungi have been extensively studied due to its powerful ligninolytic enzymes.

Strategies for improving ligninolytic enzyme activities in semi-solid-state bioreactors

open access: yes, 2001
The production of ligninolytic enzymes by Phanerochaete chrysosporium BKM-F-1767 (ATCC 24725) was studied in laboratory-scale bioreactors, operating under semi-solid-state conditions. The bioreactors were filled with inert support (polypropylene sponges)

Response of ligninolytic macrofungi to the herbicide atrazine: dose-response bioassays

open access: yesRevista Argentina de Microbiología, 2014
The effect of atrazine concentrations on mycelial growth and ligninolytic enzyme activities of eight native ligninolytic macrofungi isolated in Veracruz, México, were evaluated in a semi-solid culture medium.

Development of a co‐culture of Ureibacillus thermosphaericus and Cupriavidus taiwanensis for inhibitors removal from hemicellulose prehydrolysate

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, Volume 42, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
For biofuels production, hemicellulose pre‐hydrolysate is considered as an attractive feedstock rich in fermentable sugars. The pre‐hydrolysate derived from lignocellulosic biomass comprises, along with sugars, several inhibitors which can hamper its efficient conversion.

Concurrent Biosurfactant and Ligninolytic Enzyme Production by Pleurotus spp. in Solid-State Fermentation

open access: yes, 2014
Pleurotus spp. is known as one of the significant producers of ligninolytic enzymes which efficiently degrade lignocellulosic materials. Recent studies on potential of biosurfactant production by Pleurotus spp. have increased. Biosurfactants have several
