Alzheimer's Disease Biomarkers Measured by Capillary Blood Collection Versus Venous Plasma and Cerebrospinal Fluid

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Blood biomarkers are increasingly critical for non‐invasive Alzheimer's Disease (AD) diagnostics and research but typically require on‐site processing. Remote point‐of‐care collection methods could enhance biomarker testing in clinical and research settings.

Utility of the APE2 Score as a Diagnostic Tool for Autoimmune Encephalitis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To retrospectively evaluate the diagnostic performance of the Antibody Prevalence in Epilepsy and Encephalopathy (APE2) score relative to clinician‐adjudicated autoimmune encephalitis (AE) and the Graus criteria in a tertiary neuroimmunology referral cohort, including antibody‐negative AE.

Subjective Cognitive Concerns and Cognitive Trajectories in Parkinson's Disease: Biomarker Impact

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the relationship of subjective cognitive concerns (SCC) with biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease (AD), neurodegeneration, and Parkinson's disease (PD) and domain‐specific cognitive trajectories among cognitively unimpaired persons with de novo PD. Method Cognitively unimpaired participants with SCC (n = 294) and without SCC (

Generalized Dystonia With Cervical Predominance in a Patient With a De Novo TCF20 Variant

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT TCF20 has been implicated in developmental delay and intellectual disability, with dystonia reported less frequently. We describe a woman in her early twenties with childhood‐onset learning difficulties, progressive dysarthria, tremor, and generalized dystonia with marked cervical predominance, associated with a de novo TCF20 frameshift ...

Early Clinical and Cerebrospinal Fluid Predictors of 1‐Year Recurrence in Autoimmune GFAP Astrocytopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Autoimmune glial fibrillary acidic protein astrocytopathy (GFAP‐A) is an inflammatory central nervous system disorder with variable outcomes. Relapse occurs in a subset of patients, but early predictors remain unclear. We aimed to identify admission‐available features associated with 1‐year recurrence and develop an interpretable ...

Coronal native limb alignment: establishing reporting standards and aligning measurements of key angles

open access: yesEFORT Open Reviews
The main goal of a successful total knee arthroplasty is to relieve pain and restore function. While mechanical alignment provides excellent long-term implant survivorship, clinical and functional outcomes remain less than ideal.

Frequency and Phenotype of Coexisting Aquaporin‐4 and Autoimmune Encephalitis Autoantibodies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Among 9457 aquaporin‐4 (AQP4) immunoglobulin G‐positive patients, 2071 underwent autoimmune encephalitis antibody testing and 85 (4%) had coexisting antibodies, most commonly cerebrospinal fluid glial fibrillary acidic protein‐IgG and N‐methyl‐D‐aspartate receptor‐IgG, or serum high‐titer GAD65‐IgG.

Phantom pain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Almost anyone with a limb amputation experiences phantom sensations. Moreover, the majority of amputees experience pain. This phenomenon is known as ‘Phantom pain’ and is described as the pain felt from a body part, usually a limb, which is no longer ...
