Sixty-eight lower extremity bypass procedures for severe lower limb ischemia were undertaken on 53 patients of 75 years of age and over. The operative mortality was 4.4%. At two years cumulative limb salvage, patient survival, graft patency and survival with an intact limb were 77%, 72%, 44%, and 56%, respectively.

A propensity‐score matched analysis of limb salvage vs amputation for osteosarcoma
Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2019With recent advances in chemotherapy and surgical techniques, the trend in the treatment of osteosarcoma continues to progress towards limb salvage. However, studies comparing limb salvage with amputation continue to be limited by selection bias and ...

Limb salvage for osteosarcoma.
The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1988Five issues need to be addressed when considering limb salvage instead of amputation for osteosarcoma of the extremities. Is there any decrease in survival with limb salvage when compared to amputation? What are the differences in the immediate morbidity between the two surgical procedures?

Pedal reconstructions for limb salvage
European Journal of Vascular Surgery, 1991If only one pedal artery is patent the vascular surgeon has to decide between primary amputation and a bypass. Between 1980 and 1990, 460 femoro-distal bypasses were performed in our clinic and 8% (39 cases) of these received a pedal reconstruction. At discharge from the hospital 85% of these grafts were patent.
