The Social Function of the State and the Legal Order: Forms and Limits of Influence

RU SCIENCE, 2023
The article examines the social function of the state in its relationship with the maintenance of the legal order and the stability of social relations. It identifies legally relevant forms through which the state influences the economic, spiritual, and social spheres, and outlines the limits of such influence by reference to legality, proportionality,

The automatic generation of limit state function of hinged structure

Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 1991
In this paper, the theorem of structure continual variation of truss structure in the analysis of structure reliability is derived, and it is used to generate limit state function automatically. We can avoid repeated assembly of global stiffness matrix and repeated inverse operations of the matrix caused by constant changes of structure topology. A new

Fuzzy label methods for constructing imprecise limit state functions

Structural Safety, 2003
In reliability analysis of engineering systems it is conventional to represent the limit state function as a precise surface. Uncertainty in the limit state function may be represented by introducing one or more additional random variables. However, the meaning of the additional random variable(s) is unclear and seldom does justice to the uncertainties

A Limit State Function for Pipelines Containing Long Corrosion Defects

2010 8th International Pipeline Conference, Volume 1, 2010
Currently, there exist various models that predict the burst capacity of a pipeline containing corrosion defects. Recent studies have indicated that these models tend to be overly conservative for long corrosion defects. This paper, based on a PRCI-sponsored study, aims at minimizing this conservatism through a series of steps.

Limitations of the Mini‐Mental State Examination in predicting neuropsychological functioning in a psychiatric sample

Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica, 1990
The present study examined the ability of the Mini‐Mental State Examination (MMSE), a cognitive screening test commonly employed in research and clinical applications, to predict level of performance on a comprehensive neuropsychological battery, the Luria‐Nebraska Neuropsychological Battery (LNNB). The tests were administered to a diagnostically mixed

Gap function and density of states in the strong-coupling limit for an electron-boson system

Physical Review B, 1991
We have calculated the frequency-dependent gap function for a superconductor in the strong-coupling limit {lambda}{much gt}1, where {lambda} is the electron-boson mass-renormalization parameter. We find a multipeaked function which leads to a spectral function with quasiparticle-like resonances on an energy scale determined by the gap.

Prevalence and Impact of Dementia-related Functional Limitations in the United States, 2001 to 2005

Alzheimer Disease & Associated Disorders, 2010
These analyses examined the relationship between dementia and comorbid conditions with respect to degree of functional impairment and emotional impact. Analyses were conducted using National Health Interview Survey (2001 through 2005) data from a subset of individuals aged > or =60 years with activity limitations attributed to dementia, senility, or ...
