Maximal Bite Force Measured via Digital Bite Force Transducer in Subjects with or without Dental Implants—A Pilot Study

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The aims of the current study were as following: (1) to evaluate the maximal bite forces in patients with dental implants versus patients without dental implants, as measured by a digital bite force transducer (GM10); (2) to evaluate the influences of ...

Electric Lines of Force [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1938
WHEN a piece of cotton wool is placed on one of the charged spheres of a Wimshurst machine, it is immediately repelled, and, following the lines of force in the air, proceeds to the oppositely charged sphere. This is the usual method of demonstrating the phenomenon, but it is not always easily controlled.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Elastic-plastic analysis of the crack surface vicinity under a pair of anti-plane forces applied at an arbitrary point on the crack surface

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
An elastic-plastic analysis of the mode III crack surface vicinity was performed in an infinitely wide elastic-perfectly plastic plate, in which a pair of anti-plane forces applied at an arbitrary point on the crack surface.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

The Development of Britain's Airborne Forces during the Second World War [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The operational history of Britain's airborne forces during the Second World War ranges from small-scale raids in 1941 through to full divisional deployments in 1944 and 1945.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Force Concept Inventory: Forces and Speed

open access: yes, 2001
A rocket drifts sideways in outer space from point "a" to point "b" as shown in the animations. The rocket is subject to no outside forces. Starting at position "b", the rockets's engine is turned on and produces a constant thrust (force on the ...
