The Anexact: Delimitating Operations in the work of Sejima and Nishizawa

open access: yesMateria Arquitectura, 2014
The notion of the “anexact” is introduced as a conceptual framework for the study of the generative systems operating in a set of recurring formal families in the work of Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa.

Impact of Fjord Geometry on Grounding Line Stability

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2018
Recent and past retreat of marine-terminating glaciers are broadly consistent with observed ocean warming, yet responses vary significantly within regions experiencing similar ocean conditions. We assess how fjord geometry modulates glacier response to a

Penggunaan Etnomatematika Pada Batik Paoman Dalam Pembelajaran Geomteri Bidang di Sekolah Dasar

open access: yesIndoMath, 2018
This study aims to explore the ethnomatematics contained in Batik Paoman Indramayu and apply it to the learning of geometry field in elementary school. This research is a qualitative research with ethnography approach, where the data collection technique

Mathematical Modeling of Heat Transfer During the Retrieval of a Downhole Sampler from an Ice Borehole: The Case of Borehole 5G-5, Vostok Station

open access: yesEnergies
During the drilling of deep ice boreholes in Central Antarctica, one of the key tasks is to collect representative samples of the borehole fluid. The principal challenge is that, during retrieval of the downhole sampler to the surface, the sample is ...

Covariant Space-Time Line Elements in the Friedmann–Lemaitre–Robertson–Walker Geometry

open access: yesAxioms, 2022
Most quantum gravity theories quantize space-time on the order of Planck length (ℓp ). Some of these theories, such as loop quantum gravity (LQG), predict that this discreetness could be manifested through Lorentz invariance violations (LIV) over ...

Multicolored lines in a finite geometry

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics, 1988
Let P be a set of points, partitioned into blocks \(P_ 1,...,P_ t\), and let \underbar{L} be a set of lines (subsets of P) satisfying the following conditions: (i) each line intersects at least two of the blocks (ii) any two points in distinct blocks are on a unique line (iii) any two points in the same block are on at most one line.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

THE EFFECT OF THE EUCLIDEAN GEOMETRY SHORT LEARNING PROGRAMME USING THE WORKED-OUT EXAMPLES TEACHING APPROACH ON MATHEMATICS TEACHERS' PERFORMANCE

open access: yesJOHME: Journal of Holistic Mathematics Education, 2022
The studies on the worked-out examples teaching approach (WOETA) have been investigated globally and in South Africa, showing gains in learners' performance. This study reports on the Euclidean geometry short learning programme (EGSLP), which used worked-
