Comparative analysis of overhead power transmission lines based on loadability characteristics
2011 International Conference on Clean Electrical Power (ICCEP), 2011The loadability curves of different types of overhead transmission lines are computed and compared in this paper, for line length up to 500 km. The considered solutions are: traditional three-phase single and double circuit ac lines, four-phase ac lines, monopolar and bipolar HVDC lines and combined ac-dc lines.

Loadability of 400 kV four-bundled overhead transmission lines
2015 International Conference on Clean Electrical Power (ICCEP), 2015The transmission capacity of high voltage overhead power transmission lines (OHLs) can be increased in different ways. One of these is to increase the number of standard ACSR (Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced) conductors forming the bundles of OHLs.

On-line prediction of closest loadability margins using neural networks
TENCON 2007 - 2007 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2007Determining loadability margins to various security limits is of great importance for the secure operation of a power system. In this paper, a novel approach based on neural networks is proposed for online prediction of the closest loadability margin. For each operating point, the closest loadability margin is calculated using a pair of multiple power ...

Improved gravitational search algorithm for loadability enhancement of transmission lines using UPFC
International Journal of System Assurance Engineering and Management, 2013In competitive electricity market, transmission system need to handle increased power transfers due to presence of large number of players. This increased volume of traffic causes network congestion in some of the lines. If the congestion is not relieved, line outage may take place. In order to improve system load ability and remove network congestion,

The use of isotachophoretic (ITP) sample focusing to improve the detection limits for the analysis of charged compounds in capillary electrochromatography (CEC) is described. A coupled-column set-up was used with a 220-microm inner diameter capillary, in which counterflow ITP focusing was performed, connected via a T-junction to a 75-microm inner ...

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2014
This is the second part of an investigation aimed at providing a thorough technical comparison between traditional and alternative overhead power transmission lines based on the loadability characteristics. The previous Part I has outlined and applied the fundamentals of the loadability analysis to three comparable single-circuit lines.

An investigation into loadability characteristics of EHV high phase order transmission lines
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1995This paper deals with construction and investigation of loadability characteristics of high phase order (HPO) transmission lines extending the analytical concepts developed over the years for three-phase power systems. An assessment of the benefits of HPO lines in terms of their loadability as constrained by several power system performance and ...

Reactive compensation techniques for increasing loadability of long primary distribution lines
Proceedings of the 37th Annual North American Power Symposium, 2005., 2005Electric networks often consist of remote cities or villages with low population densities, which consume a considerably small amount of energy. This can be in the order of a few megawatts for places that are up to 100 km away from the source. Typical uncompensated primary distribution lines are not an effective option for these situations, since line ...

Variable Parameter Equivalent Model for the Loadability of Key Transmission Line
2013In order to obtain the loadability of key transmission line under operation, a variable parameter equivalent model of power systems is proposed. This equivalent model was first inferred theoretically. And then, a practical method was given for forecasting equivalent parameters.
