Cell lineage analysis of the avian neural crest [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Neural crest cells migrate extensively and give rise to diverse cell types, including cells of the sensory and autonomic nervous systems. A major unanswered question concerning the neural crest is when and how the neural crest cells become determined to ...

Day/night variations of myeloid and lymphoid cell subsets in the murine inguinal lymph node

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The circadian system is involved in the temporal regulation of the immune system. Our study reveals that two innate immune populations, NKT cells and neutrophils, predominate at the beginning of the day in healthy mice, highlighting how the time of day influences immune responses.

Evolutionary dynamics of the chloroplast genome in Daphne (Thymelaeaceae): comparative analysis with related genera and insights into phylogenetics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Comparative analysis of chloroplast genomes from 14 genera of Thymelaeaceae revealed variation in gene content, ranging from 128 to 142 genes, primarily influenced by IR expansion/contraction events and pseudogenization of ndhF, ndhI, and ndhG. Two large inversions were detected within the large single‐copy region, including a synapomorphic inversion ...

Biocontrol Strains Differentially Shift the Genetic Structure of Indigenous Soil Populations of Aspergillus flavus

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
Biocontrol using non-aflatoxigenic strains of Aspergillus flavus has the greatest potential to mitigate aflatoxin contamination in agricultural produce. However, factors that influence the efficacy of biocontrol agents in reducing aflatoxin accumulation ...

The cytoplasmic domain of CD4 promotes the development of CD4 lineage T cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Thymocytes must bind major histocompatibility complex (MHC) proteins on thymic epithelial cells in order to mature into either CD8+ cytotoxic T cells or CD4+ helper T cells.

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.

Binding of Vav to Grb2 through dimerization of Src homology 3 domains [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The protooncogenic protein Vav has the structure of an intracellular signal transducer. It is exclusively expressed in cells of hematopoietic lineage and plays a crucial role in hematopoietic cell differentiation.

Pioglitazone plus (−)‐epigallocatechin gallate: a novel approach to enhance osteogenic performance in aged bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Aged human bmMSCs are seeded in the scaffold. Osteoblastic induction can slightly increase cell's bone‐forming activity to produce bone‐like tissues, shown as the sporadic xylenol orange‐stained spots (the lower left image). Notably, pioglitazone plus EGCG co‐treatment dramatically increases cell's bone‐forming activity and bone‐like tissue production (
