Tracing the lineage of tracing cell lineages

Nature Cell Biology, 2001
The study of cell lineages has been, and remains, of crucial importance in developmental biology. It requires the identification of a cell or group of cells and of all of their descendants during embryonic development. Here, we provide a brief survey of how different techniques for achieving this have evolved over the last 100 years.

The Concept of Lineage, Types of Lineage and a General Evaluation of the Establishment of Lineage

International Journal of Social Science and Human Research, 2023
The aim of this study is to examine the legal and bioethical problems that arise in the field of lineage in our Civil Law. While these problems were examined, the concept of lineage, its types, the establishment of paternity and its provisions were discussed theoretically. Comparisons were made to better understand the development of the problems. With

The osteocyte lineage

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 2008
The osteocyte resides in the lacuna/canalicular system in bone and has been hypothesized to orchestrate local bone remodeling. Certainly the identification of the osteocyte as the source of Sclerostin, a molecule that regulates osteoblast function, has supported this possibility.

Lineage Sorting in Apes

Annual Review of Genetics, 2014
Recombination allows different parts of the genome to have different genealogical histories. When a species splits in two, allelic lineages sort into the two descendant species, and this lineage sorting varies along the genome. If speciation events are close in time, the lineage sorting process may be incomplete at the second speciation event and lead
