An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Versal deformations: a tool of linear algebra
A versal deformation of a matrix $A$ is a normal form to which all matrices $A+E$, close to $A$, can be reduced by similarity transformation smoothly depending on the entries of $A+E$.

Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Climate change aggravated wildfire behaviour in the Iberian Peninsula in recent years
Climate change is considered to affect wildfire spread both by increasing fuel dryness and by altering vegetation mass and structure. However, the direct effect of global warming on wildfires is hard to quantify due to the multiple non-climatic factors ...

Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Linear Characters of Finite Linear Groups
Let \(V\) be a vector space of dimension \(n\) over the field \(\mathbb{F}_q\) of order \(q\), let \(G\) be a subgroup of \(\text{GL}(V)\), and let \(Y\) be a \(G\)-invariant subset of the set \({\mathcal P}(V)\) of \(1\)-spaces of \(V\). The author defines an \(\mathbb{F}_q^*\)-valued linear character \(\delta_Y\) related to the permutation action of \
