A viscoelastic-plastic model for skeletal structural systems with clearances
The paper is concerned with the mathematical modelling and numerical solution of unilateral problems for viscoelastic-plastic structural systems. A new material model is proposed in which the viscoelastic and plastic strains are governed by different ...

Applying trait-based models to achieve functional targets for theory-driven ecological restoration [PDF]
Manipulating community assemblages to achieve functional targets is a key component of restoring degraded ecosystems. The response-and-effect trait framework provides a conceptual foundation for translating restoration goals into functional trait targets,

When is a Linear Complementarity System Controllable? [PDF]
This paper deals with the controllability problem of a class of piecewise linear systems, known as linear complementarity systems. It is well-known that checking certain controllability properties of very simple piecewise linear systems are undecidable problems.

Hybrid Newton-type method for a class of semismooth equations [PDF]
In this paper, we present a hybrid method for the solution of a class of composite semismooth equations encountered frequently in applications. The method is obtained by combining a generalized finite-difference Newton method to an inexpensive direct ...

Differential-Algebraic Equations and Beyond: From Smooth to Nonsmooth Constrained Dynamical Systems [PDF]
The present article presents a summarizing view at differential-algebraic equations (DAEs) and analyzes how new application fields and corresponding mathematical models lead to innovations both in theory and in numerical analysis for this problem class ...

Dominance analysis of linear complementarity systems
The paper extends the concepts of dominance and p-dissipativity to the non-smooth family of linear complementarity systems. Dominance generalizes incremental stability whereas p-dissipativity generalizes incremental passivity. The generalization aims at an interconnection theory for the design and analysis of switching and oscillatory systems.
