The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Bitangential interpolation in generalized Schur classes

open access: yes, 2009
Bitangential interpolation problems in the class of matrix valued functions in the generalized Schur class are considered in both the open unit disc and the open right half plane, including problems in which the solutions is not assumed to be holomorphic

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Systems theoretic methods in decoding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper we show how ideas based on system theoretic modeling of linear behaviors may be used for decoding of linear codes. In particular we show how Sudan's bivariate interpolation approach to list decoding of RS codes allows a system theoretic ...

Nevanlinna-Pick Interpolation and Factorization of Linear Functionals

open access: yes, 2011
If $\fA$ is a unital weak-$*$ closed algebra of multiplication operators on a reproducing kernel Hilbert space which has the property $\bA_1(1)$, then the cyclic invariant subspaces index a Nevanlinna-Pick family of kernels.

Substrate specificity of Burkholderia pseudomallei multidrug transporters is influenced by the hydrophilic patch in the substrate‐binding pocket

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

Counterexample-Guided Polynomial Loop Invariant Generation by Lagrange Interpolation

open access: yes, 2015
We apply multivariate Lagrange interpolation to synthesize polynomial quantitative loop invariants for probabilistic programs. We reduce the computation of an quantitative loop invariant to solving constraints over program variables and unknown ...

Model Order Reduction of Non-Linear Magnetostatic Problems Based on POD and DEI Methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In the domain of numerical computation, Model Order Reduction approaches are more and more frequently applied in mechanics and have shown their efficiency in terms of reduction of computation time and memory storage requirements. One of these approaches,

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Spatial analysis of precipitation in a high-mountain region: exploring methods with multi-scale topographic predictors and circulation types [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2014
Statistical models of the relationship between precipitation and topography are key elements for the spatial interpolation of rain-gauge measurements in high-mountain regions.
