Inbreeding depression in Holstein cattle in Brazil
The objective of this study was to evaluate inbreeding depression in Holstein cows in Brazil, considering their 305-day milk production (MP), age of first calving (AFC), and calving interval (CI).

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Diagnostics for generalised linear mixed models [PDF]
Generalized linear mixed models are generalized linear models that include random effects varying between clusters or 'higher-level' units of hierarchically structured data. Such models can be estimated using gllamm.

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Boosting Correlation Based Penalization in Generalized Linear Models [PDF]
In high dimensional regression problems penalization techniques are a useful tool for estimation and variable selection. We propose a novel penalization technique that aims at the grouping effect which encourages strongly correlated predictors to be in ...

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Forecasting interest rate swap spreads using domestic and international risk factors: Evidence from linear and non-linear models. [PDF]
This paper explores the ability of factor models to predict the dynamics of US and UK interest rate swap spreads within a linear and a non-linear framework.

We study voting models on graphs. In the beginning, the vertices of a given graph have some initial opinion. Over time, the opinions on the vertices change by interactions between graph neighbours. Under suitable conditions the system evolves to a state in which all vertices have the same opinion. In this work, we consider a new model of voting, called

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

A survey on generalized linear models (GLMS) and their diagnostic tools
An important statistical development in the last four decades has been the advancement in the field of regression analysis for a variety of response variables under the umbrella of an exponential family of distributions.
