Bayesian Inference for Generalized Additive Regression based on Dynamic Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We present a general approach for Bayesian inference via Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) simulation in generalized additive, semiparametric and mixed models.

Parameter Estimation and Change Detection in Linear Regression Models Using Mixed Integer Linear Programming

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2009
We present a method for detecting changes and estimating parameters in AR(X) models. The method is based on the assumption of piecewise constant parameters resulting in a sparse structure of their ...

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Using three statistical methods to analyze the association between exposure to 9 compounds and obesity in children and adolescents: NHANES 2005-2010

open access: yesEnvironmental Health, 2020
Background Various risk factors influence obesity differently, and environmental endocrine disruption may increase the occurrence of obesity. However, most of the previous studies have considered only a unitary exposure or a set of similar exposures ...

Characterization of the Spatial Distribution of the Thermodynamic Phase Within Mixed‐Phase Clouds Using Satellite Observations

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
Models assume that mixed‐phase clouds consist of uniformly mixed ice crystals and liquid cloud droplets when observations have shown that they consist of clusters, or “pockets,” of ice crystals and liquid cloud droplets.

Generalized Functional Additive Mixed Models

open access: yes, 2016
We propose a comprehensive framework for additive regression models for non-Gaussian functional responses, allowing for multiple (partially) nested or crossed functional random effects with flexible correlation structures for, e.g., spatial, temporal, or

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Responsiveness of quality of life instruments : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Applied Statistics in Statistics at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Quality of life (QoL) is a phrase that is intuitively meaningful. As a concept it distinguishes between the mere duration of life and a life that is in some sense 'worthwhile'.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
