Perturbation selection and influence measures in local influence analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Cook's [J. Roy. Statist. Soc. Ser. B 48 (1986) 133--169] local influence approach based on normal curvature is an important diagnostic tool for assessing local influence of minor perturbations to a statistical model.

Adaptive Partially Linear Regression Models by Mixing Different Estimates [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Theoretical and Applied Statistics, 2019
This paper proposes adapting the semiparametric partial model (PLM) by mixing different estimation procedures defined under different conditions. Choosing an estimation method of PLM, from several estimation methods, is an important issue, which depends on the performance of the method and the properties of the resulting estimators.

Real‐time assay of ribonucleotide reductase activity with a fluorescent RNA aptamer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ribonucleotide reductases (RNR) synthesize DNA building blocks de novo, making them crucial in DNA replication and drug targeting. FLARE introduces the first single‐tube real‐time coupled RNR assay, which enables isothermal tracking of RNR activity at nanomolar enzyme levels and allows the reconstruction of allosteric regulatory patterns and rapid ...

Analysis of event-related potential difference waves can benefit from linear mixed effects modeling: Recommendations for analyses and general model fitting

open access: yesDevelopmental Cognitive Neuroscience
Linear mixed effects models (LMEs) have advantages for analyzing mean amplitude event-related potential (ERP) data. Compared to ANOVA and linear regression, LMEs retain more subjects and yield unbiased parameter estimates by accounting for trial-level ...

Fence methods for mixed model selection

open access: yes, 2008
Many model search strategies involve trading off model fit with model complexity in a penalized goodness of fit measure. Asymptotic properties for these types of procedures in settings like linear regression and ARMA time series have been studied, but ...

Flexible semiparametric mixed models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In linear mixed models the influence of covariates is restricted to a strictly parametric form. With the rise of semi- and nonparametric regression also the mixed model has been expanded to allow for additive predictors.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Modelling Survival Events with Longitudinal Covariates Measured with Error [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In survival analysis, time-dependent covariates are usually present as longitudinal data collected periodically and measured with error. The longitudinal data can be assumed to follow a linear mixed effect model and Cox regression models may be used for ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.
