Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for Pediatric, Adolescent, and Young Adult Patients With Osteosarcoma: Local Control Outcomes With Dosimetric Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Osteosarcoma is a radioresistant tumor that may benefit from stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for locoregional control in metastatic/recurrent disease. We report institutional practice patterns, outcomes, toxicity, and failures in osteosarcoma patients treated with SBRT.

The Linear Stability of a Power-Law Liquid Film Flowing Down an Inclined Deformable Plane

open access: yesMathematics
A linear stability analysis is performed for a power-law liquid film flowing down an inclined rigid plane over a deformable solid layer. The deformable solid is modeled using a neo-Hookean constitutive equation, characterized by a constant shear modulus ...

Radiotherapy Delivery in Deep Inspiration for Pediatric Patients—Final Results of the Phase II Feasibility Study TEDDI

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction The TEDDI trial tested the feasibility and reproducibility of deep‐inspiration breath‐hold (DIBH) in pediatric patients referred for radiotherapy. This report presents final results, including patient‐reported outcomes (PRO) and dosimetric comparison of DIBH and free‐breathing (FB).

Almost sure and moment exponential stability in the numerical simulation of stochastic differential equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Relatively little is known about the ability of numerical methods for stochastic differential equations (SDEs) to reproduce almost sure and small-moment stability.

Predicting Chronicity in Children and Adolescents With Newly Diagnosed Immune Thrombocytopenia at the Timepoint of Diagnosis Using Machine Learning‐Based Approaches

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To identify predictors of chronic ITP (cITP) and to develop a model based on several machine learning (ML) methods to estimate the individual risk of chronicity at the timepoint of diagnosis. Methods We analyzed a longitudinal cohort of 944 children enrolled in the Intercontinental Cooperative immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) Study ...

On the Stability of Convection in a Non-Newtonian Vertical Fluid Layer in the Presence of Gold Nanoparticles: Drug Agent for Thermotherapy

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
We consider the effect of gold nanoparticles on the stability properties of convection in a vertical fluid layer saturated by a Jeffreys fluid. The vertical boundaries are rigid and hold at uniform but different temperatures.

Prognostic Impact of Treatment Modalities, Including Targeted Compartmental Radio‐Immunotherapy, in a Cohort of Neuroblastoma Patients With CNS Metastases at Relapse

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neuroblastoma (NB) with central nervous system (CNS) metastases is rare at diagnosis, but occurs more often during relapse/progression. Patients with CNS metastases face a dismal prognosis, with no standardized curative treatment available.

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.

Study of magnetic field dependent viscosity on a soret driven ferrothermohaline convection in a rotating porous medium

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2014
The effect of a magnetic field dependent viscosity on a Soret driven ferro thermohaline convection in a rotating porous medium has been investigated using the linear stability analysis. The normal mode technique is applied.

Linear stability of magnetized massive protoplanetary disks

open access: yes, 2014
Magneto-rotational instability (MRI) and gravitational instability (GI) are the two principle routes to turbulent angular momentum transport in accretion disks. Protoplanetary disks may develop both.
