Signal Propagation and Link Budget
2000This chapter deals with various phenomena occurring whena a signal propagates between a satellite and a user terminal. The basic effect is signal attenuation due to free space loss. Since the attenuation increases with distance it is especially severe in the satellite scenario.

A Practical Link Budget for I-UWB Systems
VTC Spring 2009 - IEEE 69th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2009This paper proposes a practical alternative to the traditional link budget approach for impulse-based UWB systems (I-UWB), which is based on the Friis formula. The proposed link budget approach overcomes the narrowband limitations of the traditional link budget by proposing the use of an antenna-pulse coupling gain. This gain is specific for an antenna

Link budget for high-speed short-distance wireless optical link
2012 8th International Symposium on Communication Systems, Networks & Digital Signal Processing (CSNDSP), 2012The paper discusses analyses of high-speed wireless optical link where various effects influence the detected optical power. For purpose of the analyses, Gaussian optical intensity distribution is considered. Further mathematical analysis leads to analytical expressions of attenuation of detected optical power under all common conditions (e.g ...

Free Space Optical Communications Link Budget Estimation
Lasers, Sources and Related Photonic Devices, 2010This paper describes a new methodology of estimating the free space optical communications link budgets to be expected in conditions of severe turbulence. Comparisons will be given between theory and field measurements.

This article contributes to the debate on the incorporation of performance information in European local government budgets. At the core is the development of an analytical model for comparing efforts of performance budgeting (PB). Evidence in ten cases indicates that performance structures and the span of performance differ, that performance ...

The link budget assesses the quality of a satellite link. It compares the received signal power available via the uplink station, satellite and downlink station with the combination of noise and interference which arises in the link. A basic satellite link is illustrated which shows an uplink earth station, a satellite and a downlink station.

On the link budget calculation for CDMA systems
2001 IEEE Aerospace Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.01TH8542), 2002Due to the near/far problem of the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system, all users need to adaptively change transmission power according to the level of the fading corruption. The level of interference from different interfering users on a desired user can vary, depending on the level of fading.

Statistical Optical Link Budget Analysis
2019 IEEE Aerospace Conference, 2019In this paper, we describe work on extending statistical analysis methods to optical communications links, with a primary focus on intensity modulated, direct detected photon-counting channel utilizing pulse-position-modulation (PPM). We performed analysis on the relationship between bit error rate (BER) requirement, statistical characteristics of the ...

Linking Economic Planning To Budgeting
SSRN Electronic JournalThe role of macroeconomic management and microeconomic planning is emphasized in formulating and implementing government budgets. Before any effective implementation is taken, budget designers must first of all address macroeconomic needs and then micro-level investment and expenditure plan.
