Do testate amoebae communities recover in concordance with vegetation after restoration of drained peatlands? [PDF]
The environmental importance of peatlands has stimulated efforts to restore their specific ecosystem structure and functions. Monitoring and assessment of the ecological state of the peatland is fundamental in restoration programmes.

Working with shuffles, we establish a close link between Kendall’s τ\tau , the so-called length measure, and the surface area of bivariate copulas and derive some consequences.

Not all Links are Concordant to Boundary Links [PDF]
The authors announce and sketch a proof of a counter example to the conjecture that every smooth n-link in \(S^{n+2}\) is concordant to a boundary link. Their theorem states: There are infinitely many concordance classes of links in \(S^{2n+1}\) (with vanishing Massey products if \(n=1)\), containing no links concordant to boundary links.

Concordance groups of links [PDF]
We define a notion of concordance based on Euler characteristic, and show that it gives rise to a concordance group of links in the three-sphere, which has the concordance group of knots as a direct summand with infinitely generated complement. We consider variants of this using oriented and nonoriented surfaces as well as smooth and locally flat ...

Link concordance, boundary link concordance and eta-invariants [PDF]
We study the eta-invariants of links and show that in many cases they form link concordance invariants, in particular that many eta-invariants vanish for slice links. This result contains and generalizes previous invariants by Smolinsky and Cha--Ko. We give a formula for the eta-invariant for boundary links.

Concordance between European and US case definitions of healthcare-associated infections
Background Surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAI) is a valuable measure to decrease infection rates. Across Europe, inter-country comparisons of HAI rates seem limited because some countries use US definitions from the US Centers for ...
