FINITE TYPE LINK CONCORDANCE INVARIANTS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Knot Theory and Its Ramifications, 2000
This paper is a follow-up to [10], in which the author showed that the only real-valued finite type invariants of link homotopy are the linking numbers of the components. In this paper, we extend the methods used to show that the only real-valued finite type invariants of link concordance are, again, the linking numbers of the components.

Concordance to links with an unknotted component [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, 2019
AbstractWe construct links of arbitrarily many components each component of which is slice and yet are not concordant to any link with even one unknotted component. The only tool we use comes from the Alexander modules.

Shake slice and shake concordant links [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Knot Theory and Its Ramifications, 2020
We can construct a [Formula: see text]-manifold by attaching [Formula: see text]-handles to a [Formula: see text]-ball with framing [Formula: see text] along the components of a link in the boundary of the [Formula: see text]-ball. We define a link as [Formula: see text]-shake slice if there exists embedded spheres that represent the generators of the

Concordance to links with unknotted components [PDF]

open access: yesAlgebraic & Geometric Topology, 2012
We show that there are links whose individual components are concordant to the unknot, but which are not concordant to any link with unknotted components. We give examples in the topological category, and examples in the smooth category which are topologically slice. We also give generalizations regarding components of prescribed Alexander polynomials.

Quantitative computed tomographic descriptors associate tumor shape complexity and intratumor heterogeneity with prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Two CT features were developed to quantitatively describe lung adenocarcinomas by scoring tumor shape complexity (feature 1: convexity) and intratumor density variation (feature 2: entropy ratio) in routinely obtained diagnostic CT scans.

Concordance properties of parallel links [PDF]

open access: yesIndiana University Mathematics Journal, 2013
We investigate the concordance properties of `parallel links' P(K), given by the (2,0) cable of a knot K. We focus on the question: if P(K) is concordant to a split link, is K necessarily slice? We show that if P(K) is smoothly concordant to a split link, then many smooth concordance invariants of K must vanish, including the tau and s-invariants, and ...

Integrative analysis of genomic sequencing data reveals higher prevalence of LRP1B mutations in lung adenocarcinoma patients with COPD

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Both chronic Obstruction Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and lung cancer are leading causes of death globally. Although COPD and lung cancer coexist frequently, it is unknown whether lung cancer patients with COPD harbor distinct genomic characteristics ...

Establishing self-concordant goals: a longitudinal study on the influence of ego identity on goal self-concordance

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
IntroductionSelf-concordant goals are those that align closely with an individual’s intrinsic interests and values, driving autonomous motivation, and resulting in higher satisfaction and goal achievement.

A Role for Noncoding Variation in Schizophrenia

open access: yesCell Reports, 2014
A large portion of common variant loci associated with genetic risk for schizophrenia reside within noncoding sequence of unknown function. Here, we demonstrate promoter and enhancer enrichment in schizophrenia variants associated with expression ...

Concordance of multiple informant assessment of school-based social skills intervention and association with child outcomes: Results from a randomized trial

open access: yesImplementation Research and Practice, 2023
Background Fidelity, or the degree to which an intervention is implemented as designed, is essential for effective implementation. There has been a growing emphasis on assessing fidelity of evidence-based practices for autistic children in schools ...
