Linking Decisions with Moments [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper proposes a mechanism that can be operated without money in situations where agents have to decide over some common projects when they are not informed about others' preferences.

Evaluating accuracy and bias of different comparative judgment equating methods against traditional statistical equating

open access: yesFrontiers in Education
Traditional common-item or common-person statistical equating cannot always be used for standard maintaining or linking between test forms. In some contexts, comparative judgment (CJ) methods which capture expert judgment of quality of student work on ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Design of Self-Healing Rubber by Introducing Ionic Interaction To Construct a Network Composed of Ionic and Covalent Cross-Linking

open access: yes, 2019
Introducing reversible ionic interaction is one of the most effective methods to achieve self-healing behavior in rubbers. However, the strength of the rubbers only containing an ionic cross-linking network is quite limited, and their long-term stability

Towards a unified account of na in Akan

open access: yesGlossa
Grammatical accounts of na in Akan identify two different forms: nà with a low tone (LT-na) and ná with a high tone (HT-na). LT-na functions in two ways: as a focus marker or a conjunction, the latter of which can take a prefix and be realized as ɛna ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
