Intramyocellular lipid accumulation and reduced whole body lipid oxidation in HIV lipodystrophy
American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2003Antiretroviral therapy in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive patients can induce a lipodystrophy syndrome of peripheral fat wasting and central adiposity, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance. To test whether in this syndrome insulin resistance is associated with abnormal muscle handling of fatty acids, 12 HIV-1 patients (8 females/4 males ...

Lipid accumulation in selected Tetraselmis strains
Journal of Applied Phycology, 2019Marine microalgae constitute a natural source of compounds (e.g., alkanes, triacylglycerols) useful for biodiesel production—yet improvement of lipid productivity by microalgae is a sine qua non for the economic feasibility of such a microalga-based process. Toward this goal, five Tetraselmis strains, Tetraselmis suecica UW605, T.

Accumulation of lipids and lipid-intermediates in the heart during ischaemia
1987The content of non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA) and their CoA and carnitine esters is low in normoxic cardiac tissue. The majority of fatty acids is esterified in the triacylglycerol and phosphoglyceride pool. During myocardial ischaemia beta-oxidation of fatty acids is inhibited. In addition, turnover of the esterified fatty acid pools is most likely

Regulation of lipid accumulation in oleaginous microorganisms
Biochemical Society Transactions, 2002A small number of eukaryotic micro-organisms, the oleaginous species, can accumulate triacylglycerols as cellular storage lipids, sometimes up to 70% of the biomass. Some of these lipids, particularly those containing high proportions of polyunsaturated fatty acids of nutritional and dietary importance, are now in commercial production; these are known

Lipid accumulation in chromium poisoned rats.
International journal of tissue reactions, 1983Interference of chromium with the hepato-renal lipids in rat (Rattus rattus albino) was investigated using histochemical and biochemical parameters. Present results show that chromium stimulates the accumulation of triglycerides and phospholipids in both liver and kidney.
