Interaction of Hematoporphyrin with Lipid Membranes
Natural or synthetic porphyrins are being used as photosensitizers in photodiagnosis (PD) and photodynamic therapy (PDT) of malignancies and some other diseases. Understanding the interactions between porphyrins and cell membranes is therefore important to rationalize the uptake of photosensitizers and their passive transport through cell membranes. In

RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

The effect of modulating membrane lipid composition on the thermal sensitivity of tumour cells in culture [PDF]
The plasma membrane, which separates intracellular contents from extra cellular milieu, consists of a lipid bilayer comprising mainly phospholipids and cholesterol together with various functional proteins, which control the interaction of the cell with ...

Lipid‐protein interactions in membranes [PDF]
The interactions of lipids with integral and peripheral proteins can be studied in reconstituted and natural membranes using spin label electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. The ESR spectra reveal a reduction in mobility of the spin‐labelled lipid chains on binding of peripheral proteins to negatively‐charged lipid bilayers.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Repurposing a Lipid Droplet‐Associated Algal Protein as a Biosensor for Phosphatidic Acid
Phosphatidic acid (PA) is an essential signaling lipid in eukaryotic cells. Despite its importance, biosensors recognizing PA‐rich membranes are in short supply, partly because there is no known consensus motif for detecting PA. Here, we demonstrate that
