Premature aging of red wines: a matter of fatty acid oxidation? A review on lipid‐derived molecular markers and their possible precursors

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract Premature aging of red wines (PremOx) is an emerging defect in red wines, related to the onset of cooked fruit, plum and dried figs nuances, as well as the loss of aging potential. This review is focussed on the contribute of lipid‐derived compounds, mainly originating from fatty acids oxidation, to this defect.

Lipidomic Profiling of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Zygosaccharomyces bailii Reveals Critical Changes in Lipid Composition in Response to Acetic Acid Stress [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
When using microorganisms as cell factories in the production of bio-based fuels or chemicals from lignocellulosic hydrolysate, inhibitory concentrations of acetic acid, released from the biomass, reduce the production rate.

Sample Preparation for Multi‐Omics Analysis: Considerations and Guidance for Identifying the Ideal Workflow

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Advances in methodologies and technologies over the past decade have led to an unprecedented depth of analysis of a cell's biomolecules, with entire genomes able to be sequenced in hours and up to 10,000 transcripts or ORF products (proteins) able to be quantified from a single cell.

Obesity dependent metabolic signatures associated with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease progression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Our understanding of the mechanisms by which nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) progresses from simple steatosis to steatohepatitis (NASH) is still very limited.

Cross-Platform Comparison of Untargeted and Targeted Lipidomics Approaches on Aging Mouse Plasma. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Lipidomics - the global assessment of lipids - can be performed using a variety of mass spectrometry (MS)-based approaches. However, choosing the optimal approach in terms of lipid coverage, robustness and throughput can be a challenging task.

Lipidomic analyses in epidemiology [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Epidemiology, 2016
Clinical lipid measurements have been the mainstay of risk assessment for chronic disease since the Framingham study commenced over 60 years ago. Thousands of subsequent epidemiological studies have provided much insight into the relationship between plasma lipid profiles, health and disease.

Astrocyte Lipid Droplet Dynamics Orchestrate Neurological Disorders and Therapeutic Horizons

open access: yesSmall Science, EarlyView.
This review examines astrocyte lipid droplet (LD) metabolism in neurological disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, stroke, epilepsy, and glioma. It analyzes regulatory mechanisms governing LD formation, transport, and degradation in astrocytes, highlighting their potential as biomarkers and therapeutic targets through integrative multiomics ...

Mouse mitochondrial lipid composition is defined by age in brain and muscle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Functionality of the lipid rich mitochondrial organelle declines with increased age. Recent advances in lipidomic technologies allowed us to perform a global characterisation of lipid composition in two different tissue types and age ranges.
