Flexibility of a Eukaryotic Lipidome – Insights from Yeast Lipidomics
Mass spectrometry-based shotgun lipidomics has enabled the quantitative and comprehensive assessment of cellular lipid compositions. The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae has proven to be a particularly valuable experimental system for studying lipid-related cellular processes.

Using mice, we applied multi‐omics to compare liver and skeletal muscle after chronic alcohol consumption. The liver responded more strongly across genes, proteins, and metabolites, with a lowered PC:PE ratio. Muscle showed inflammation, extracellular matrix activation, impaired mitochondrial energetics, and an elevated PC:PE ratio. Lipidomics affected

Metabolism of polyunsaturated fatty acids in human bone marrow derived mesenchymal stromal cells [PDF]
The application of human bone marrow derived mesenchymal stromal cells (hBMSCs) for regenerative or immunomodulatory therapies, e.g. treatment of the graft-versus-host disease, requires in vitro expansion of the cells.

ABSTRACT Aim Acyl‐CoA binding protein plays a vital role in lipid metabolism by mediating the intracellular flux and utilization of long‐chain acyl‐CoAs. We generated an adipocyte‐wide ACBP knockout mouse and a brown adipose tissue‐specific ACBP knockout mouse to investigate ACBP function in adipose tissue.

A detailed metabolome atlas of the male mouse brain was established, incorporating metabolomic and lipidomic profiling of seven anatomical regions. T2D induced marked metabolic alterations, which were mainly associated with lipotoxicity, defective energy metabolism, proinflammatory processes, and neurotoxicity.

Antibiotic‐mediated disruption of commensal microbiota increases corneal cholesterol sulfate (CS) production through upregulation of SULT2B1, resulting in impaired corneal epithelial wound healing. Elevated CS suppresses neutrophil recruitment and epithelial cell migration via inhibition of the DOCK2–Rac pathway.

Obesity dependent metabolic signatures associated with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease progression [PDF]
Our understanding of the mechanisms by which nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) progresses from simple steatosis to steatohepatitis (NASH) is still very limited.
