Steroidogenic compensation and lipid deficiency with enhanced NAD+ salvage in small‐for‐gestational‐age placenta

Fetal growth restriction is associated with placental metabolic adaptations. In small‐for‐gestational‐age placenta (SGA), cholesterol receptors and steroidogenic enzymes are upregulated, enhancing steroidogenesis. NAD salvage pathway is also increased to support NADP+/NADPH requirements.

1H NMR metabolomics and lipidomics analysis of neutrophils reveals biomarkers of ageing, inflammageing and frailty

Using 1H NMR metabolomics, we measured polar and lipid metabolites from human blood neutrophils from people with frailty (n = 31, mean age 84Y), people with rheumatoid arthritis (n = 16, mean age 55Y), robust older (n = 24, mean age 66Y) and healthy younger people (n = 21, mean age 22Y).

Summary of the microbiome‐lipid‐microinflammation axis in androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Altered sebaceous gland activity, shifts in microbial abundance on the scalp and hair follicle, and follicular microinflammation interact bidirectionally, each reinforcing the others.
