UTX Responds to Nanotopography to Suppress Macrophage Inflammatory Response by Remodeling H3K27me3 Modification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Compared with those on the pTi surface, macrophages on the TNTs surface present reduced myosin II contractility, which facilitates the nuclear translocation of the UTX. This reduction decreases the enrichment of the repressive H3K27me3 histone modification at the Abca1 gene locus, which promotes the transcription and protein expression of ABCA1 ...

Human plasma CETP deficiency: identification of a novel mutation in exon 9 of the CETP gene in a Caucasian subject from North America

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1998
Human plasma cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) is a 476-residue hydrophobic glycoprotein that catalyzes the heterotransfer of cholesteryl esters and triacylglycerols among lipoproteins: Mutations in the CETP gene have been identified, mostly in ...

Adverse Cardiovascular Risk Profile and Increased Diurnal Salivary Cortisol in Girls With Turner Syndrome: An Exploratory Study

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part C: Seminars in Medical Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Patients with Turner Syndrome (TS) and those exposed to high concentrations of glucocorticoids have a number of characteristics in common, including an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Pediatric TS patients underwent studies of salivary cortisol (SC) and cortisone (SCn), body composition, continuous glucose monitoring, vascular ...

Phosphatidylinositol promotes cholesterol transport in vivo

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2000
To examine the role that lipoprotein charge plays in cholesterol metabolism in vivo, we characterized the effects of an intravenous injection of 40 μmol of an uncharged phospholipid (phosphatidylcholine, PC) or an anionic phospholipid ...

Influence of the arterial elastic component on the response to balloon angioplasty in femoral arteries of a healthy porcine model

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study evaluates the role of elastin in vascular response 28 days after balloon angioplasty using uncoated and paclitaxel‐coated balloons in a healthy porcine model. The results show higher elastin content in external femoral arteries, which is inversely correlated with vascular injury, inflammation, smooth muscle cell loss, proteoglycan and fibrin

Three arginine residues in apolipoprotein A-I are critical for activation of lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2001
Previous studies have suggested that the helical repeat formed by residues 143–164 of apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I) contributes to lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) activation.
