Drosophila Lipophorin Receptors Recruit the Lipoprotein LTP to the Plasma Membrane to Mediate Lipid Uptake. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2015
Lipophorin, the main Drosophila lipoprotein, circulates in the hemolymph transporting lipids between organs following routes that must adapt to changing physiological requirements.

Isolation and characterization of two distinct species of human very low density lipoproteins lacking apolipoprotein E

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1996
We have isolated two fractions of very low density lipoprotein particles in human plasma that lack apolipoprotein (apo) E by combined anti-apoE and heparin affinity chromatography of whole plasma followed by ultracentrifugation.

The hepatoadrenal syndrome: A common yet unrecognized clinical condition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Objective: Adrenal failure is common in critically ill patients, particularly those with sepsis. As liver failure and sepsis are both associated with increased circulating levels of endotoxin and proinflammatory mediators and reduced levels of apoprotein-

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Ganglioside embedded in reconstituted lipoprotein binds cholera toxin with elevated affinity[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2010
The ability to exogenously present cell-surface receptors in high-affinity conformations in a synthetic system offers an opportunity to provide host cells with protection from pathogenic toxins.

Ezetimibe therapy: mechanism of action and clinical update. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The lowering of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) is the primary target of therapy in the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular events.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Is the atherosclerotic phenotype of preeclamptic placentas due to altered lipoprotein concentrations and placental lipoprotein receptors? Role of a small-for-gestational-age phenotype

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2013
Atherosis of spiral arteries in uteroplacental beds from preeclamptic women resemble those of atherosclerosis, characterized by increased plasma lipids and lipoproteins. We hypothesized that: 1) lipoprotein receptors/transporters in the placenta would be

Role of lipoprotein apheresis in the management of familial hypercholesterolemia

open access: yesGlobal Journal of Transfusion Medicine, 2021
Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) is an autosomal dominant disorder due to a congenital absence of low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDL-R) that transports cholesterol-carrying lipoprotein particles into cells.

PAI1 blocks NMDA receptor-mediated effects of tissue-type plasminogen activator on cell signaling and physiology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The fibrinolysis proteinase tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA, also known as PLAT) triggers cell signaling and regulates cell physiology. In PC12 cells, Schwann cells and macrophages, the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDA-R) mediates tPA signaling.
