Role of lipoprotein lipase separated from VLDL during VLDL catabolism

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1982
Abstract Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) which is associated with very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) separated from the VLDL-LPL complex during hydrolysis of triglyceride in the presence of HDL in vitro. When further VLDL was added to the mixture, the separated LPL became associated with the freshly added VLDL and hydrolyzed its triglyceride. These results

Female steroid hormones and lipoprotein synthesis in the cockerel: effects of progesterone and nafoxidine on the estrogenic stimulation of very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) synthesis.

Endocrinology, 1977
Since progesterone is known to modulate the effects of estradiol in a number of organ systems, we have studied the effects of the two hormones on very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) synthesis in the cockerel.

Influence of lipoprotein lipase and hepatic lipase on the transformation of VLDL and HDL during lipolysis of VLDL

Atherosclerosis, 1995
In order to study the relative effects of lipolytic enzymes on the removal of lipids and apolipoproteins, in particular apolipoprotein (apo) E and cholesteryl ester, from human very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) during its conversion to product lipoproteins, the action of lipoprotein lipase (LPL) and the combined action of lipoprotein lipase and ...

Apolipoprotein E and lipoprotein lipase reduce macrophage degradation of oxidized very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), but increase cellular degradation of native VLDL

Metabolism, 1992
Oxidized low-density lipoprotein (Ox-LDL) has been shown to be taken up by the macrophage-scavenger receptor at an enhanced rate in comparison to native LDL, with consequent cellular cholesterol accumulation. In the present study, we analyzed macrophage interaction with very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) from normolipidemic subjects (N-VLDL) that was ...

Effect of probucol on the composition of lipoproteins and on VLDL apoprotein B turnover

Atherosclerosis, 1983
We studied the effect of probucol on lipoprotein composition and VLDL apo B turnover. In 7 hypercholesterolemic subjects, probucol therapy lowered mean total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and HDL triglycerides, raised LDL triglycerides and did not change LDL cholesterol. LDL cholesterol:LDL triglycerides mass ratios fell.

VLDL compositional changes and plasma levels of triglycerides and high density lipoprotein

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1998
VLDL chemical composition is related to plasma levels of triglycerides and HDL-cholesterol. We evaluated patients with primary hypertriglyceridemia with or without hypoalphalipoproteinemia and subjects with normotriglyceridemia with hypoalphalipoproteinemia.

Comparison of behaviour of very low density lipoproteins of type III hyperlipoproteinaemia on electrophoresis on paper and on agarose gel with a note on a late (slow) pre-beta VLDL liproprotein.

Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation, 1975
The diagnosis of type III hyperlipoproteinaemia is based on the presence of a very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) that on electrophoresis has beta instead of the usual pre-beta mobility. This definition is based on paper electrophoresis.

Effect of increased afterload on cardiac lipoprotein lipase and VLDL receptor expression

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular and Cell Biology of Lipids, 1999
Fatty acids are a major source of fuel for energy production by myocytes. Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) receptor are abundantly expressed by the heart and skeletal muscles. LPL and possibly VLDL receptor represent the primary route of access to fatty acids contained in circulating triglyceride-rich lipoproteins ...

The VLDL receptor plays a key role in the metabolism of postprandial remnant lipoproteins

Clinica Chimica Acta, 2019
A new concept to account for the process of postprandial remnant lipoprotein metabolism is proposed based on the characteristics of lipoprotein particles and their receptors. The characteristics of remnant lipoprotein (RLP) were investigated using an immuno-separation method.

Effect of human high density lipoproteins, anti-apolipoproteins CII and CIII, and hydrolysis of very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol ester on VLDL catabolism in vitro

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1984
Lipolysis of human very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) by lipoprotein lipase (LPL) was inhibited in the presence of high density lipoproteins (HDL), anti-apolipoprotein (apo) CII, and by increasing the VLDL free cholesterol content but not with anti-apo CIII or lipoprotein-free plasma.
