The iron-regulated staphylococcal lipoproteins
Lipoproteins fulfill diverse roles in antibiotic resistance, adhesion, protein secretion, signaling and sensing, and many also serve as the substrate binding protein (SBP) partner to ABC transporters for the acquisition of a diverse array of nutrients ...

ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus‐induced erectile dysfunction (DMED) is a highly prevalent complication among diabetic patients; however, its underlying pathogenic mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Metabolic disorder is a hallmark of diabetes, yet its precise contribution to DMED progression is not well defined.

Hyperlipoproteinemia in fasting ponies
Ponies fasted for up to 8 days showed, both by agarose electrophoresis and preparative ultracentrifugation, the appearance of a pre-β-migrating, very low density lipoprotein fraction in plasma.

Infusional high-density lipoproteins therapies as a novel strategy for treating atherosclerosis
High-density lipoproteins (HDL) have received considerable interest as a target for the development of novel anti-atherosclerotic agents beyond conventional approaches to lipid lowering.

Canagliflozin treatment reshapes the gut microbiota in DKD and elevates levels of melibiose, a metabolite derived from Roseburia intestinalis. Melibiose directly binds to and enhances the enzymatic activity of glyoxalase 1, leading to decreased methylglyoxal accumulation.

Apolipoprotein E (apoE) deficiency has been suggested to induce foam cell formation. Using lipoproteins obtained from wild-type mice and apoE-deficient mice expressing apoB-48 but not apoB-100, we studied apoE-deficient lipoprotein-induced changes in ...

Nanocellulose, derived from microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) through sulfuric acid hydrolysis or mechanical grinding to produce CNC or CNF, was tested in a rat ICP model. Particularly, CNF improved gut microbiota composition, reduced secondary bile acid metabolism, and restored bile acid homeostasis through modulation of the gut–liver axis.

Spirochetal Lipoproteins and Immune Evasion [PDF]
Spirochetes are a major threat to public health. However, the exact pathogenesis of spirochetal diseases remains unclear. Spirochetes express lipoproteins that often determine the cross talk between the host and spirochetes.

Lipoprotein glomerulopathy is a rare disorder characterized by proteinuria, renal insufficiency and disturbances in lipoprotein metabolism closely related to those observed in type III hyperlipidemia. Rare mutations in apolipoprotein E (apoE) gene may contribute to the pathogenesis of the disease.
