An Engineered Living Material With Pro‐Angiogenic Activity Inducible by Near‐Infrared Light

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
NIR‐responsive engineered living materials (ELMs) for controlled angiogenesis: Near‐infrared (800 nm) light activates engineered probiotic bacteria within alginate‐based living materials to secrete a blood vessel‐regenerating protein. The released protein promotes pro‐angiogenic effects in endothelial networks and chick chorioallantoic membranes.

Mechanism-based model characterizing bidirectional interaction between PEGylated liposomal CKD-602 (S-CKD602) and monocytes in cancer patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
S-CKD602 is a PEGylated liposomal formulation of CKD-602, a potent topoisomerase I inhibitor. The objective of this study was to characterize the bidirectional pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) interaction between S-CKD602 and monocytes.

Biocompatible but Antibacterial Mechanism of Graphene Oxide for Sustainable Antibiotics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene oxide (GO) exhibits selective antibacterial activity through specific interactions between its oxygen functional groups and bacterial membrane phospholipid POPG, causing membrane destabilization while maintaining biocompatibility. Model membrane studies and infected wound models in mice and pigs demonstrate effective bacterial suppression and ...

Quantitative modeling of the high-throughput production and in vivo kinetics of (drug-encapsulating) liposomes. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
In developing liposomes for in vivo use, it is important to design the liposomes to have optimal in vivo kinetics, and it is also necessary to identify optimal high-throughput production conditions for these liposomes.
