Phosphorus Recovery by Liquid–Liquid Extraction
Separation Science and Technology, 2009It is acknowledged that phosphorus removal is more crucial in comparison with nitrogen removal for preventing algae glooming and eutrophication. Chemical and biological methods are common methods for the P removal. Excessive sludge production and difficulties of recovering phosphorus are concerns in terms of sustainable waste management.

Electrochemically Modulated Liquid−Liquid Extraction of Ions
Analytical Chemistry, 2005The development of ion extraction methods under electrochemical control via electrochemistry at the interface between two immiscible electrolyte solutions is discussed. A hydrodynamic flow injection system was used for the potentiostatic extraction of non-redox-active species from a flowing aqueous phase into a stationary organogel phase.

Multiphase Designer Droplets for Liquid‐Liquid Extraction
Advanced Materials, 2012Multiphase liquid droplets consisting of three connected but immiscible liquid phases are demonstrated. The droplets have designer geometries stabilized by surface energy patterns; aqueous phases prefer contact with hydrophilic surface while organic phases prefer contact with hydrophobic areas.

Purification of Enzymes by Liquid-Liquid Extraction
1982The article reviews the current status of the application of aqueous two-phase systems for the extractive purification of enzymes, especially with regard to large-scale processing. The method can be used for the separation of proteins from cell debris as well as for further purification. The latter can be performed by a series of single step partitions,
