Analysis of selected herbicide metabolites in surface and ground water of the United States [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
One of the primary goals of the US Geological Survey (USGS) Laboratory in Lawrence, Kansas, is to develop analytical methods for the analysis of herbicide metabolites in surface and ground water that are vital to the study of herbicide fate and ...

Stroma gene signature predicts responsiveness to chemotherapy in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma patient‐derived xenograft models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma patient‐derived xenografts (PDAC‐PDXs) engrafted orthotopically in the pancreas of immunodeficient mice retain the main genetic and histopathological characteristics of the original human tumors. A 294 stroma gene signature differentiates between PDAC‐PDXs that are responsive to gemcitabine plus nab‐paclitaxel versus ...

Identification of a Widespread Palmitoylethanolamide Contamination in Standard Laboratory Glassware. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Introduction: Fatty acid ethanolamides (FAEs) are a family of lipid mediators that participate in a host of biological functions. Procedures for the quantitative analysis of FAEs include organic solvent extraction from biological matrices (e.g., blood ...

An R package to analyse LC/MS metabolomic data: MAIT (Metabolite Automatic Identification Toolkit) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Current tools for liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry for metabolomic data cover a limited number of processing steps, whereas online tools are hard to use in a programmable fashion. This article introduces the Metabolite Automatic Identification

Peripheral blood proteome biomarkers distinguish immunosuppressive features of cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Immune status significantly influences cancer progression. This study used plasma proteomics to analyze benign 67NR and malignant 4T1 breast tumor models at early and late tumor stages. Immune‐related proteins–osteopontin (Spp1), lactotransferrin (Ltf), calreticulin (Calr) and peroxiredoxin 2 (Prdx2)–were associated with systemic myeloid‐derived ...

Liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry analysis of synthetic coccidiostats in eggs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Coccidiostats are synthetic drugs administered to animals, especially to poultry, to cure coccidiosis. In this paper, we present a selective liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method to analyze residues of five synthetic ...

Abuse of nutmeg seeds: Detectable by means of liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry techniques? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Numerous case reports of intoxications with nutmeg seeds (Myristica fragrans, Houtt.) can be found in literature often following their abuse, as psychotropic effects were described after ingestions of large doses.

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Water isotopic ratios from a continuously melted ice core sample [PDF]

open access: yesAtmos. Meas. Tech., 4, 2531-2542, 2011, 2014
A new technique for on-line high resolution isotopic analysis of liquid water, tailored for ice core studies is presented. We built an interface between a Wavelength Scanned Cavity Ring Down Spectrometer (WS-CRDS) purchased from Picarro Inc. and a Continuous Flow Analysis (CFA) system.
