Stiffening Liquid Crystal Elastomers with Liquid Crystal Inclusions
Abstract Liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs) are promising building blocks for soft robots, given their large, programmable, reversible, and stimuli‐responsive shape change. Enhancing LCEs’ stiffness and toughness has been a longstanding desire previously explored by reinforcing them with fillers, crystalline microdomains, and ...

The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Photothermal Transport for Guiding Nanoparticles Through the Vitreous Humor
Visual impairments affect over 2.2 billion people worldwide, yet delivering drugs to the posterior segment of the eye, including the retina, remains a major challenge. Intravitreal injection, the standard administration route, often results in suboptimal

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Enhancement of the Coupling Gain in GaAs-Liquid Crystal Hybrid Devices [PDF]
In this work the evanescent space-charge field generated in semi-insulating GaAs semiconductor substrates was used to reorient the liquid crystals molecules sandwiched between them to study the energy exchange in two-wave mixing experiments. We show that

BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...
