Phase Behavior and Ionic Conductivity of Blended, Ion-Condensed Electrolytes with Ordered Morphologies

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
In this study, the amphiphilic salt lithium trifluoromethanesulfonylimide octadecane (C18LiTFSI) was used as a basis to investigate the effects of anion density and cation coordination sites within blended electrolytes with strong ionic aggregation ...

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Molecular Shape Related Effects in Liquid Crystals

open access: yes, 2015
Liquid crystals are organic materials constituting of molecules characterized by strong shape anisotropy. Many studies unambiguously showed that some important physical effects observed in liquid crystals are strongly dependent on the shape anisotropy of

Multiplexed holographic transmission gratings recorded in holographic polymer-dispersed liquid crystals: static and dynamic studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The optimization of the experimental parameters of two multiplexed holographic transmission gratings recorded in holographic polymer-dispersed liquid crystals is investigated.

Nanomaterials in Liquid Crystals as Ion-Generating and Ion-Capturing Objects

open access: yesCrystals, 2018
The majority of tunable liquid crystal devices are driven by electric fields. The performance of such devices can be altered by the presence of small amounts of ions in liquid crystals.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Atomistic simulation of biaxial liquid crystals and mixtures of liquid crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this thesis molecular dynamics (MD) simulations at a fully-atomistic level have been undertaken to study the biaxiality and the structure of the liquid crystalline phase formed by the para-heptylbenxoate diester of 2.5-bis-(p-hydroxyphenyl)-1,3,4 ...

Template Effect of Multi-Phase Liquid Crystals

open access: yes, 2021
The template effects on stability of twist structure liquid crystals (LCs) were investigated. By refilling a cholesteric LC (CLC) of different pitch into a blue phase LC (BPLC) template or a sphere phase LC (SPLC) template, a multi-phase and multi-pitch ...

CMA based optimization of a conformal multiband slotted monopole antenna

open access: yesDiscover Electronics
This paper presents the design and analysis of an multiband uniform metasurface antenna. The proposed metasurface comprises a three-by-three array of identical circular radiating elements with cross-slot configurations. Characteristic Mode Analysis (CMA)
