High-efficiency terahertz third harmonic generation from quasi-bound states in the continuum in permittivity-asymmetric hybrid metasurface

open access: yesEPJ Applied Metamaterials
Optical resonators with high quality (Q) factors are highly desirable in meta-optic and nanophotonic fields. Recently, bound states in the continuum (BIC) have emerged as a pivotal solution to enhance the Q factors of optical resonators to theoretically ...

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Flexible polymer-induced condensation and bundle formation of DNA and F-actin filaments

open access: yes, 2001
A simple semi-empirical theory is developed for the ionic strength dependence of the flexible polymer-induced condensation of semiflexible polyelectrolytes such as DNA and F-actin filaments.

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

Jetting behavior of polymer solutions in drop-on-demand inkjet printing

open access: yes, 2012
The jetting of dilute polymer solutions in drop-on-demand printing is investigated. A quantitative model is presented which predicts three different regimes of behavior depending upon the jet Weissenberg number Wi and extensibility of the polymer ...

A theoretical model for the scattering of I2 molecule from a perfluoropolyeter liquid surface

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, 1999
In order to simulate experimental results of scattering of an I2 beam from liquid perfluorpolyeter ( PFPE ) surface we developed a model potential for the gas-polymer interaction at the liquid surface and solved the dynamics of the collision process by ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
