Sloshing of liquids in cylindrical tanks
AIAA Journal, 1984In this note, we discuss a method recently developed by the authors [Siam J. Math. Anal. 9, 768-773 (1978; Zbl 0409.65046)] that leads to a simple but effective procedure for estimating the sloshing frequencies with rigorous error bounds.

LIQUID SLOSHING IN A CYLINDRICAL QUARTER TANK
AIAA Journal, 1963With the increasing size of space vehicles and their larger diameter, both of which lower the natural frequencies of the propellants, the effects of propellant sloshing upon the stability of the vehicle are becoming more critical, especially since at launch usually a very large amount of the total mass is in the form of liquid propellant.

Study of liquid sloshing: numerical and experimental approach
Computational Mechanics, 2010In this paper, sloshing phenomenon in a rectangular tank under a sway excitation is studied numerically and experimentally. Although considerable advances have occurred in the development of numerical and experimental techniques for studying liquid sloshing, discrepancies exist between these techniques, particularly in predicting time history of impact

Hydroelastic Solution of the Sloshing of a Liquid in a Cylindrical Tank
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1963The problem of sloshing (free surface oscillations) of a liquid in a cylindrical tank with rigid walls and a flexible bottom (a thin elastic plate) is studied for both the axisymmetric and asymmetric cases. The coupled boundary-value problem of the liquid and the elastic bottom is solved for small motions.

Sloshing of Liquid in Rectangular Tank
Advanced Materials Research, 2014Ground-supported tanks are used to store a variety of liquids. During earthquake activity the liquid exerts impulsive and convective pressures (sloshing) on the walls and bottom of the rectangular tank. This paper provides theoretical background for analytical calculating of circular frequencies and hydrodynamic pressures developed during an earthquake

Update on SPHERES-Slosh for Acquisition of Liquid Slosh Data aboard the ISS
49th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference, 2013A current problem that severely affects the performance of spacecraft is related to slosh dynamics in liquid propellant tanks under microgravity conditions. The confidence in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) predictions are low because of the lack of benchmark against experimental data.

Optimal Control of Sloshing Liquids
1998This paper is concerned with optimal trajectory path planning for the motion of open, fluid filled containers moving in two dimensional space. The fluid and the mechanical facility that moves the container are subject to several constraints. The objective of the optimisation is a minimisation of time to transport the container from an initial position ...

Liquid Sloshing in an Elastic Container
1966The motion of a liquid in a flexible container is important for rocket structural dynamics. The purpose of this paper is to study the dynamic response of the liquid, the sloshing frequencies and the stability of the free surface of the liquid in an elastic container.
