Recent Advances in Liquid Sloshing Dynamics

Applied Mechanics Reviews, 2001
A liquid free surface in partially filled containers can experience a wide spectrum of motions such as planar, non-planar, rotational, quasi-periodic, chaotic, and disintegration. Civil engineers and seismologists have been studying liquid sloshing effects on large dams, oil tanks and elevated water towers under ground motion.

Liquid Sloshing in Microgravity

56th International Astronautical Congress of the International Astronautical Federation, the International Academy of Astronautics, and the International Institute of Space Law, 2005
The subject of study is the influence of sloshing liquid on board spacecraft and satellites. Experiments have been carried out with the mini satellite Sloshsat FLEVO, containing a partially filled water tank, in an orbit around earth. These experiments were supported by a computational model for 3D incompressible free-surface flow, including capillary ...

On the Sloshing of Liquid in a Flexible Tank

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1958
Abstract The kinetic and potential energies of an incompressible fluid having a free surface in a cylindrical tank subjected to translation, rotation, and simple bending are derived in the forms 1 2 ∑ i ∑ j m i j q . i q . j and 1 2 ∑ i ∑ j k i j q i q j where the qi (t) are generalized co-ordinates.

A Software Application for Fast Liquid-Sloshing Simulation

2022
This paper presents a software application to execute fast simulations of liquid sloshing in cylindrical and rectangular containers. The application is developed based on our previous works [1, 2], and it is particularly suitable to simulate the liquid behavior in fast rectilinear intermittent movements typical of automatic packaging machines.
