The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Dielectrophoresis-Driven Spreading of Immersed Liquid Droplets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In recent years electrowetting-on-dielectric (EWOD) has become an effective tool to control partial wetting. EWOD uses the liquid–solid interface as part of a capacitive structure that allows capacitive and interfacial energies to adjust by changes in ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Liquid target pulsed laser deposition

open access: yes, 1995
A novel pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique using a liquid target has been developed. The technique overcomes the problem of solid target deterioration under high power laser irradiation and prevents splashing of large particulates on the substrate ...

Liquid-liquid extraction with and without a chemical reaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The extraction of mercaptans with alkaline solution is accompanied by a second- order instantaneous reaction. As explained in Section 2.2, in this case, the mass transfer coefficients can be calculated as for the physical extraction, since the mass ...

Ionic Liquid-Based Vacuum Microwave-Assisted Extraction Followed by Macroporous Resin Enrichment for the Separation of the Three Glycosides Salicin, Hyperin and Rutin from Populus Bark

open access: yesMolecules, 2014
An effective ionic liquid vacuum microwave-assisted method was developed for extraction of the thermo- and oxygen-sensitive glycosides salicin, hyperin and rutin from Populus bark due to the strong solvating effects of ionic liquids on plant cell walls ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Construction and investigation of all-in-one microneedles complexed with functionalized polydiacetylene liposomes for improved in situ detection sensitivity

open access: yeshLife
Polydiacetylene (PDA) liposomes have been widely applied for detection due to their distinctive optical properties. However, the liquid phase in which PDA liposomes are dispersed generates several drawbacks, for instance, instability, compromise of ...

Production of radiometals in a liquid target

open access: yes, 2015
Introduction Access to radiometals suitable for labeling novel molecular imaging agents requires that they be routinely available and inexpensive to obtain. Proximity to a cyclotron center outfitted with solid target hardware, or to an isotope generator for a radiometal of interest is necessary, both of which can be significant hurdles in availability ...
