Characterization of plasmids from Listeria sp
International Journal of Food Microbiology, 1991Out of 139 isolates of Listeria sp. (mainly L. monocytogenes) 107 (78%) contained extrachromosomal DNA. Plasmids from 51 of these isolates were investigated further and covered a range of 8 different-sized molecules as shown by agarose gel electrophoresis. Only one of the 107 isolates contained more than one plasmid.

A protoplast transformation system for Listeria sp
Plasmid, 1987We describe protoplast transformation of members of the genus Listeria with plasmid DNA. Shuttle vectors able to replicate in both Escherichia coli and Listeria have been constructed by fusing the E. coli plasmid pUC8 with the Bacillus subtilis plasmids pBD9 and pBD10.

A total of 27 Listeria isolates that could not be classified to the species level were obtained from soil samples from different locations in the contiguous United States and an agricultural water sample from New York. Whole-genome sequence-based average nucleotide identity blast (ANIb) showed that the 27 isolates form five distinct clusters; for each ...

Listeria fleischmannii sp. nov., isolated from cheese
International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2013A study was performed on three isolates (LU2006-1T, LU2006-2 and LU2006-3), which were sampled independently from cheese in western Switzerland in 2006, as well as a fourth isolate (A11-3426), which was detected in 2011, using a polyphasic approach. The isolates could all be assigned to the genus Listeria

Minimally processed and refrigerated vegetables can be contaminated with Listeria species bacteria including Listeria monocytogenes due to extensive handling during processing or by cross contamination from the processing environment. The objective of this study was to examine the microbiological quality of ready-to-eat minimally processed and ...

Antimicrobial activity of enterocins against Listeria sp. and other food spoilage bacteria
Biotechnology Letters, 2020To determine bacteriocin producers and the prevalence of structural enterocin genes and to detect the spectrum of activity against foodborne pathogens, from isolates of Enterococcus faecium and Enterococcus faecalis that were isolated from food and the environment. The entA, entB, entP, ent1071 and entX genes, which encode enterocins were the most ...
