Evaluation of synaptotagmin‐1 action models by all‐atom molecular dynamics simulations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We used molecular dynamics simulations to test models proposing that synaptotagmin‐1 facilitates membrane fusion by perturbing lipid bilayers, inducing membrane curvature and/or bridging membranes. The simulations show that synaptotagmin‐1 C2‐domains placed near the site of fusion hinder the ability of SNARE complexes to bring the membranes together ...

Are LLMs Good Literature Review Writers? Evaluating the Literature Review Writing Ability of Large Language Models [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The literature review is a crucial form of academic writing that involves complex processes of literature collection, organization, and summarization. The emergence of large language models (LLMs) has introduced promising tools to automate these processes.

Persuasion Meets Delegation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
A principal can restrict an agent's information (the persuasion problem) or restrict an agent's discretion (the delegation problem). We show that these problems are generally equivalent - solving one solves the other. We use tools from the persuasion literature to generalize and extend many results in the delegation literature, as well as to address ...

Author Self-Citation in the General Medicine Literature

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Author self-citation contributes to the overall citation count of an article and the impact factor of the journal in which it appears. Little is known, however, about the extent of self-citation in the general clinical medicine literature. The objective of this study was to determine the extent and temporal pattern of author self-citation and the ...

Comparative activity of dimethyl fumarate derivative IDMF in three models relevant to multiple sclerosis and psoriasis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IDMF is a derivative of dimethyl fumarate (DMF) with a unique therapeutic potential at the intersection of psoriasis and multiple sclerosis. Here, we demonstrate that it compares favorably with DMF and its other derivatives, such as Diroximel, in the zebrafish, microglia, and lymphocyte models.

NLP-Powered Repository and Search Engine for Academic Papers: A Case Study on Cyber Risk Literature with CyLit [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
As the body of academic literature continues to grow, researchers face increasing difficulties in effectively searching for relevant resources. Existing databases and search engines often fall short of providing a comprehensive and contextually relevant collection of academic literature.

Google Scholar and the gray literature: A reply to Bonato's review [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Recently, a review concluded that Google Scholar (GS) is not a suitable source of information "for identifying recent conference papers or other gray literature publications". The goal of this letter is to demonstrate that GS can be an effective tool to search and find gray literature, as long as appropriate search strategies are used.

Identification of inhibitors of the Salmonella FraB deglycase, a drug target

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A high‐throughput screen was used to identify inhibitors of Salmonella FraB, a drug target. Characterization of top hits (identified after an additional counter screen) revealed that some triazolidines, thiadiazolidines, and triazolothiadiazoles are mixed‐type inhibitors of FraB.
