Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Gamma and Factorial in the Monthly [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
The Monthly has published roughly fifty papers on the $\Gamma$ function or Stirling's formula. We survey those papers (discussing only our favourites in any detail) and place them in the context of the larger mathematical literature on $\Gamma$.

Comparative Literature: An Overview

open access: yes, 2018
Comparative literature is an academic field dealing with the literature of two or more different linguistic, cultural or nation groups (D'haen, Domínguez, & Thomsen, 2012: 57). While most frequently practiced with works of different languages, comparative literature may also be performed on works of the same language if the works originate from

Targeted protein degradation in oncology: novel therapeutic opportunity for solid tumours?

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Current anticancer therapies are limited by the occurrence of resistance and undruggability of most proteins. Targeted protein degraders are novel, promising agents that trigger the selective degradation of previously undruggable proteins through the recruitment of the ubiquitin–proteasome machinery. Their mechanism of action raises exciting challenges,

Constructing the Unstable Motivic Homotopy Category Using $(\infty,1)$-Categories [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
This is an expository paper providing an overview of the unstable motivic homotopy category using the theory of $(\infty,1)$-categories. In this paper, we examine two constructions in the literature and discuss their equivalence.

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.
