An investigation into the morphology and crystallization process of lithium borate glass containing vanadium oxide

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
A series of lithium borate glasses with V2O5 were successfully prepared by melt annealing. The glass-ceramics were made by heating the glass to the glass transition temperature (Tg), then heating it to the crystallization temperature (Tc), converting it ...

The Effect of Surface Treatments on Zirconia Bond Strength and Durability

open access: yesJournal of Functional Biomaterials, 2023
To evaluate the effects of airborne particle abrasion (APA) combined with MDP-containing resin cement, a glass-ceramic spray deposition (GCSD) method on the shear bond strengths (SBSs) and durability of 3 mol% yttrium oxide-stabilized zirconia ceramic ...

Universal Chemomechanical Design Rules for Solid-Ion Conductors to Prevent Dendrite Formation in Lithium Metal Batteries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Dendrite formation during electrodeposition while charging lithium metal batteries compromises their safety. While high shear modulus solid-ion conductors (SICs) have been prioritized to resolve pressure-driven instabilities that lead to dendrite ...

Investigation of Oxygen‐Free Wetting Behavior of Aluminum on Copper via Molecular Dynamics Simulations and Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The wettability of aluminum droplets (Al) on different copper substrates (Cu), where liquid Al spreads on solid Cu surfaces to form a liquid–solid interface, is studied numerically and experimentally. The experimental and numerical results show good agreement in the fast‐spreading regime.

Electroplating lithium transition metal oxides. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Materials synthesis often provides opportunities for innovation. We demonstrate a general low-temperature (260°C) molten salt electrodeposition approach to directly electroplate the important lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery cathode materials LiCoO2, LiMn2O4,

Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...
