Interleukin‐18 signaling promotes activation of hepatic stellate cells in mouse liver fibrosis

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Interleukin‐18 signaling promotes activation of hepatic stellate cells in mouse liver fibrosis. Abstract Background and Aims Nucleotide‐binding oligomerization domain‐like receptor‐family pyrin domain‐containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation has been shown to result in liver fibrosis.

A review of factors influencing litter size in Irish sows

open access: yesIrish Veterinary Journal, 2007
Many factors influence litter size. These include genetics, gilt management, lactation length, parity distribution, disease, stress and boar fertility. In the past 20 years, litter size in Irish sows has increased by only one pig.

Genetic analysis of litter size in mice

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 2015
We performed quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping analysis for litter size (total number of pups born and/or number of pups born alive) in 255 backcross mice derived from C57BL/6J and RR/Sgn inbred mice. We identified one significant QTL on chromosome 7 and 4 suggestive QTLs on chromosomes 3, 5, 10 and 13.

SIRT5–RAC2 Axis Drives Monocyte‐to‐Macrophage Differentiation to Promote Inflammatory Injury in Premature Ovarian Insufficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SIRT5 desuccinylates and stabilizes RAC2, activating CSF1R‐dependent signaling to drive monocyte differentiation into M0 macrophages and their polarization toward pro‐inflammatory M1 phenotypes in CTX‐induced premature ovarian insufficiency. Inhibiting the SIRT5‐RAC2 axis attenuates inflammation, reduces granulosa cell apoptosis, and preserves ...

Litter Size and Lamb Survivability of Batur Sheep in Upland Areas of Banjarnegara Regency, Indonesia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
. The objective of the current study was to find out the litter size and lamb survivability of Batur sheep, and also to identify the effects of ewe parities on litter size and lamb survivability; and the effects of birth type on lamb survivability of ...

Epidemics on random intersection graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper we consider a model for the spread of a stochastic SIR (Susceptible $\to$ Infectious $\to$ Recovered) epidemic on a network of individuals described by a random intersection graph.

miR‐135a‐5p Is a Promising Target to Prevent the Glomerulosclerosis Associated with Podocyte Developmental Toxicity in Offspring Induced by Prenatal Dexamethasone Exposure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Prenatal dexamethasone exposure (PDE) programs persistent podocyte developmental injury and adult glomerulosclerosis. Mechanistically, glucocorticoid receptor (GR) binds the miR‐135a‐5p promoter and recruits the histone acetyltransferase p300, increasing promoter histone acetylation and sustaining miR‐135a‐5p expression. Elevated miR‐135a‐5p suppresses

Offspring number, size, and survival: State‐dependent optimization of litter size in a long‐lived capital breeder

open access: yesEcosphere
Seventy‐five years ago, Lack proposed that there should be an optimal clutch size shared by all individuals in a population and favored by natural selection, which maximizes the number of recruited offspring.
